Peter Huybers is the Department Chair and a Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Harvard University. His research focuses on climate dynamics, climate-atmosphere-ocean interactions, and geobiology and Earth history, aiming to deepen understanding of the climate system and its societal implications.
His ongoing work examines the interactions between volcanism and glaciation, trends and predictability of extreme temperatures, and the effects of climate change on food production. Huybers earned a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
