Rahul Mehrotra is the founder principal of RMA Architects and a Professor of Urban Design and Planning at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design, where he also holds the John T. Dunlop Professorship in Housing and Urbanization.
Since founding RMA Architects in 1990, Mehrotra has led the design and execution of diverse projects, including institutions, corporate workplaces, private homes, conservation initiatives, and social housing. Notable works include conservation planning for the Taj Mahal, a campus for Magic Bus, and the award-winning social housing project for elephants and their caretakers in Jaipur.
A prolific writer and lecturer, Mehrotra has published extensively on architecture, conservation, and urbanism, with a focus on Mumbai and India. His work has introduced concepts like the “Kinetic City” and has been featured in exhibitions, including the Venice Biennale. He is also a member of the Steering Committee at Harvard’s Lakshmi Mittal South Asia Institute.
